New Born Puppies

Their mother will take care of all their personal hygiene cleaning them and stimulating the puppies to go to the toilet as they are unable to do this independently , she will then clean up after them keeping her Whelping box extremely clean.
New born puppies are unable to regulate their own body temperature so they seek out their mum in order to stay warm. During the first four days of life, the environmental temperature where the puppies are kept should be maintained at 85 -90°F (29.5-32°C). The temperature may then be gradually decreased to approximately 80°F (26.7°C) by the seventh to tenth day and to about 72°F (22.2°C) by the end of the fourth week.
During the first week almost all a new born puppy will do is sleep and feed, putting all their energies into gaining weight gradually getting stronger every day.
Newborn puppies depend on their mother for nutrition during the first weeks of their lives. For the first few days, the mother produces a milk-like substance called colostrum. Colostrum contains the essential maternal antibodies that the puppies will depend on while their immune systems mature. These antibodies help them fight off infections, and so it is crucial that all of the puppies receive enough colostrum during this time.

The true adult colour may not be fully apparent until they are around 8 to 10 weeks old sometimes even a little older.
